Hatchery's Choice – Adult Quail

Want a little bit of everything at a great price? Try our Hatchery’s Choice of select Coturnix. All varieties are the same species but several different colors and variations. If you want to raise meat or eggs and also have a beautiful and diverse flock, this is a great way to get a little bit of everything.

This assortment includes any unsold birds from our signature lines, as well as anything we have on hand from our collections. We have several new mutations and imports, and we maintain one of the largest collections of coturnix in the US.

What to expect: A fun assortment of plumages that can yield endless color variations. Expect some of these birds to reach jumbo weights of 12-14 oz, and others to reach standard weights of 8-10 oz or anything between these size ranges. When mature, this assortment should yield 10-14 g eggs at a rate similar to any production line of Coturnix.

The breeding quintet includes four (4) females and one (1) male, which is our recommended ratio for breeding. Birds chosen for the breeding quintet or male/female selections will come mostly from feather-sexable varieties. The straight run birds will come from both feather-sexable and non-feather sexable varieties. Straight run birds are not sexed and we do not guarantee any specific ratio of males and females. We recommend straight run if you want the most variety, as this lets us include anything we have available. The displayed price for the breeding quintet is for five (5) birds, and the displayed price for males, females, and straight-run is per bird.
