Red Cardoon – Adult Quail
Red Cardoon is a new plumage variety developed at Southern Biophiliac Urban Farm (hatching eggs available here). Cardoon was a recently discovered plumage that has been hidden in plain sight in the United States for many years. We're excited to make them available, as they are a unique and interesting variety for hobbyists and production flocks alike. These birds are standard sized, laying 10-12 gram eggs consistently as most quail are known for.
What to expect: All birds will have Red Cardoon plumage — a new plumage resulting from the Cardoon mutation, in combination with the Roux dilution gene. Some birds will have Fawn, giving them the stunning "American Pansy" pattern the birds are known for, similar in pattern to a Barred Rock chicken.
A breeding quintet includes four (4) females and one (1) male, which is our recommended ratio for breeding. The displayed price for the breeding quintet is for five (5) birds, and the displayed price for males and females is per bird.
